Karnataka health minister assures supply of life-saving drugs to govt hospitals

Belagavi: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has assured immediate measures to ensure the prompt supply of life-saving medicines to government hospitals, aimed to avoid potential delays in treatment.

During discussions in the Legislative Council during Zero hour, the minister acknowledged the gravity of the issue, emphasizing the need for availability of medicines in hospitals.

"It is the government's responsibility to ensure the uninterrupted and prompt availability of medicines in hospitals," Dinesh Gundu Rao said.

He said that a directive has been issued to procure essential medicines under the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka scheme. The Minister advocated for the active participation of qualified suppliers in the drug supply tender process to streamline the drug procurement system.

"The objective is to ensure the timely supply of medicines, and the existing issues in this regard will be rectified in 2-3 months," the minister added.
