Panchayat Raj secretary sets deadline for developmental activities
Kurnool: AP Panchayat Raj special secretary Mr K. S. Jawahar Reddy has set an unachievable task for Kurnool administration leaving one to wonder as why he could not address these problems earlier.
The district had been lagging in developmental activities which has resulted in mass migration of its people to far-off places.
Mr Jawahar Reddy found that only 44,000 bulbs were fixed in all the panchayats as opposed to the requirement of fixing 1.5 lakh LED bulbs. He has set a deadline of January 19 for the administration to complete the task, leaving them with just 36 days that include holidays like Christmas and Pongal.
Another task set was the initiative to convert waste to fuel generation which the special secretary wants completed by the end of this month.
The major problem district administration has faced in this initiative was identifying a place for the erection of the plant.
A disgruntled officer from the district administration said, "This is an annual ritual for us as top bureaucrats rush to file completion reports regardless of whether the intended objective had been achieved or not!"
District collector Mr S. Satyanarayana said that there are about 8.2 lakh job cards while 8.48 lakh people had registered in 52,284 groups.
The district was spending Rs 195 on an average per worker and had so far spent Rs 282 cr.
