Nota changes fate of six candidates
Hyderabad: Voters picking Nota and independents have changed the fate of a few candidates. At least six candidates lost the elections with a close margin as the voters chose Nota. About 1.1 per cent of the total votes were polled to Nota in these elections or 2,24,709 votes.
Former BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy lost to his rival by a meagre 1,016 votes, while 1,462 votes were polled to Nota. In his Amberpet constituency, 29 candidates contested as independents and from other small parties.
In Kodad constituency, Congress candidate Padmavathi Reddy Nalamada, wife of TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy lost by a mere 756 votes while 1,240 votes were polled to Nota. Ms Kova Lakshmi of the TRS lost by 171 votes to Athram Sakku of the Congress from Asifabad, the smallest margin in the elections. The constituency saw 2,715 votes being polled to Nota. Of the 2.2 lakh Nota votes, 38,974 were from the 24 constituencies of Hyderabad. In Hyderabad, the highest number of Nota votes was registered in Medchal with 3,402 votes followed by Qutbullapur with 2,976, followed by LB Nagar, Uppal and Serilingampally. The lowest number of votes for Nota went in Charmimar.
