Hyderabad Assembly constituencies: Crossing 14 seats remains a dream

In 2009, the Congress contested in all 24 seats, but secured only 14 seats.

Hyderabad: The number 14 seems to be untoward with the politics of the greater Hyderabad Assembly constituencies. No party has ever won more than 14 seats in 24 Assembly constituencies in GHMC limits. This was proven ever since the merging of peripheral municipalities into the erstwhile MCH.

In 2009, the Congress contested in all 24 seats, but secured only 14 seats. Likewise in 2014, TD+BJP alliance contested in all the seats, but secured 14 seats.

The TRS contested in all 24 constituencies under the Greater Hyderabad limits, but was yet again confined to 14 seats. TRS won in Khairatabad, Amberpet, Uppal, Musheerabad, Cantonment, Sanathnagar, Qutubhullapur, Serilingampalli, Jubilee Hills, Rajendranagar, Kukatpally, Secunderabad, Malkajigiri and Patancheru. However, if the AIMIM is considered as an ally, then certainly the myth of 14 would be broken by TRS+AIMIM.
