Athlete gets help, but not from Vijayawada
Vijayawada: Amaravati brand ambassador Vyshanavi’s father Ambula Manoj handed over Rs 10,000 to international powerlifter Donekani Anusha on Wednesday to help in her preparations for the upcoming powerlifting championships to be held in Kerala.
Speaking to media persons, Anusha said that she hasn't received any support from the AP government, though Chief Minister N. Chandrababu promised her to give her Rs 10 lakh.
She is in search of sponsors for the tournament in Kerala.
She said that she is seeking for the financial support for her career as her father is paralysed and her mother unfit to earn as she suffers from a chronic back problem.
Anusha said that to continue her career, she needs good diet and training. “After winning the World Power Lifting Championship, the CM promised a reward of '10 Lakh and RS 30,000 per month for my diet, but nothing has been done yet,” Anusha said.
She said that she has won 50 medals and 20 shields at the district, state, national and international levels with the support of locals.
Anusha appealed the government to support her as her family was financially weak.
