KAS officer grilled for 7 hours by CID
Bengaluru: CID probing the suicide of the official car driver of the KAS officer Bheema Naik grilled the arrested officer for over seven hours on Monday. Meanwhile, the government issued orders suspending the official.
CID sources said that Naik and his driver Mohammed, who were arrested on Sunday, were interrogated at a farmhouse in Maddur for over seven hours in connection with the suicide. “He was questioned about the allegations made by the driver, Ramesh Gowda, in the suicide note. But the accused is denying the charges and is giving contradictory statements. We are also gathering material evidence as part of the probe,” an official said, adding that the statements made by the accused were video recorded.
After the interrogation, the CID officials took the accused duo to the residence of a magistrate in Maddur on Monday evening. They sought their custody as they have to question them further. The magistrate remanded both of them to the CID custody for five days.
The state government, meanwhile, suspended the official in an order issued on Monday evening. The order stated that the official remained absent from work without permission from senior officers and also a criminal case was registered against him at the Maddur police station. Based on a report submitted by Regional Commissioner of Bengaluru Division, Naik is suspended pending departmental enquiry on charges of dereliction of duty.
