Bengaluru: The Supreme Court is scheduled to pronounce its verdict on Wednesday on the pleas of 17 disqualified Congress and JD (S) MLAs challenging the orders of then Assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar disqualifying them. Most of these disqualified legislators are keen on contesting the December 5 bypolls to 15 of the 17 assembly seats.
The resignation of the disqualified MLAs from the assembly and their absence from the trust vote led to the fall of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in July this year and enabled the BJP to come to power.
The BJP will need to win at least six of the 15 seats which go to bypolls, to remain in power and has a plan in place on ticket allocation to the disqualified MLAs, after the court verdict is out, said sources.
