Solicitor says NO' to contempt action
Mr Mehta found the statements by Mr Pillai as a spontaneous reaction and creative criticism of the verdict.
Thiruvananthapuram: Solicitor general Tushar Mehta has rejected the application by two petitioners for permission to file contempt against BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai and tantri Kandaru Rajeevaru, who allegedly flouting the Sabarimala verdict.
Mr Mehta found the statements by Mr Pillai as a spontaneous reaction and creative criticism of the verdict, holding that a contempt decision cannot be taken on the basis of media reports.
Advocate Gina Kumary and A V Varsha, who filed the application, are reportedly planning to directly approach the Supreme Court.
