Belagavi: Even as the Opposition BJP prepares to sharpen its attack on the ruling Congress on the issue of resignation of Bengaluru Development minister, K.J. George (against whom the CBI has filed an FIR in the DySP Ganapathi suicide case), Speaker K.B. Koliwad said he had decided to have a detailed discussion on issues related to North-Karnataka  to uphold aspirations of people of the region, during the Belagavi session.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Koliwad said, “I do not understand why we should discuss anything other than the development  of North-Karnataka? The very purpose of convening a session here is to deliberate on development of this region. I believe this is the vision that both the opposition and the ruling party should have.”

He added that there are several issues hindering development such as the Kalasa-Banduri- Mahadayi river row and one cannot shy away from debating this. “Be it the opposition or ruling party I hope they focus on issues related to farmers and this region,” he asserted. The Speaker added that nine bills including the Karnataka Private Medical Establishment Bill and Karnataka Anti-Superstition Bill will be tabled during the session.
