Hyderabad: The Dasara holidays for schools were extended till October 19 as their buses are being used to provide public transport during the TSRTC strike. Junior and degree colleges were ordered to reopen on October 20, as there were few buses on the roads.
The state government had earlier ordered 16 days of holidays for the festival. Starting schools on October 19 would stretch the holidays to 22 days. If holidays are extended, it would become more difficult to improve the quality of education, said Mr N. Narayana from the Telangana Parents Association.
Teachers associations are worried that it would become difficult for them to complete and revise the syllabus for the students.
Instead of resolve the strike, the government is destroying the school schedule. Students would lose academic time and would be burdened at the end of the year, said Mr Mutyala Ravinder from the Telangana Progressive Teachers Federation.
The additional week of holidays would impact the final examination schedule, said Mr M.Vinod Kumar from the Democratic Teachers Federation. It is also likely that the second Saturdays would get cancelled for the next six months.
to make up for the additional holidays....
