Devotees complain about police high-handedness at Kanaka Durga Temple
VIJAYAWADA: From the beginning of Navaratri Festival, devotees have been raising allegations against the police for their objectionable behaviour at Kanaka Durga Temple.
Commissioner of Police Dwaraka Tirumala Rao strictly instructed the officials of the Police Department to be respectable and responsible towards the public and pilgrims at the time of duty on the premises of the temple.
Some police officials have been reportedly behaving rudely with the devotees and violating norms in the queue lines from the first day of Navaratri celebrations.
The devotees claimed that on the first day, a constable in uniform directly came to the hilltop with his spouse and had darshan in few minutes, through VVIP queue. Many policemen prefer to send their beloved and higher officials through VVIP queues which cause unexpected delay to the darshan of the devotees in queue.
The devotees lamented that illegal darshans of the officials severely trouble the real devotees who come to the temple from far away places. They alleged that on day two, an Inspector cadre officer continuously sent people and his belongings in a wrong way for darshan, bypassing the queue line.
They also said that even Executive officer V. Koteswaramma requested to stop such overlooking of norms in the Temple system. Besides this, the duty officers who were working in the temple premises alleged that some police officials were objecting their entry, despite having duty passes. Such allegations are turning into a negative remark for the Police Department.
