Hyderabad: The infrastructure facilities in core sectors of roads, storm water drains etc are not up to the mark in urban local bodies in TS.
In several localities, roads require recarpeting and drains have to be reconstructed. But there are no funds with urban local bodies to pay for this work.
The municipal administration department has requested the state government to provide the funds.
Urban local bodies need funds for implementing various revenue generating developmental projects such as parking spaces, parks, commercial complexes, shopping complexes, function halls, auditoriums etc. But the urban local bodies are weak in terms of their own financial strength, which is a major cause for the lack of adequate investments for capital formation and maintenance at their level.
