Karnataka jail abuse: 4 police officers summoned

She said, all officers would be reporting before the commission as expected on October 23.

BELAGAVI: State Human Rights Commission Chairperson Meera Saxena has said four officers, including D. Roopa and Krishna Kumar, have been issued notices in connection with a case of human rights violation at the Parappana Agrahara Prison and they are expected to report shortly.

According to preliminary reports, she said, it had been found that incidents of human rights violation did take place inside the prison. However, she declined to elaborate whether the violations were serious.

She said, all officers would be reporting before the commission as expected on October 23.

Commenting on journalist Gauri Lankesh's murder, she expressed confidence that the investigating police officers would be able to trace the killers shortly.
