Telangana Govt rules out creation of more districts
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government on Wednesday ruled out the creation of more districts after inaugurating 21 on Dasara along with 25 revenue divisions and 125 mandals.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao led the inauguration of districts on Tuesday at Siddipet. He also launched the Markook mandal nearby. Legislative Council Chairman Swami Goud, Speaker Madhusud-hana Chary, Cabinet ministers and others inaugurated the districts allocated to them.
A government statement said that after examining the petitions received by people and issue of notification, the process of reorganisation of districts has ended. “The process has ended smoothly,” it said and asked officials to focus on administration.
The statement came in backdrop of protests continuing for new districts including one for Narayanpet. “New districts, revenue divisions and mandals, police commissionerates, police sub divisions, circle offices and police stations were the outcome of a year-long proc-ess,” it added.
“I left you to free Telangana and I brought you Telangana state. The credit goes to Siddipet. In the history of Telangana state, it’s one of the greatest reforms... The entire nation is awest-ruck. It’s a memorable day in my life,” Mr Rao said.
On a plea from irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, the Chief Minis-ter announced sanction of a government medical college for Sid-dipet which will functi-on from next year and also sanctioned Rs 100 crore for development of Siddipet. He wanted a university to be est-ablished in Siddipet.
“I owe you three things for Siddipet. First a train. You will get it. The PM inaugurated it. Second, Godavari waters, you will get it. We wanted Siddipet district, we achieved it,” he said.
He added, “As long as I am alive, I will work for the development of Telangana. As your child, bless me. I will go forward not backward.”
PCC will reorganise district units: Uttam Kumar Reddy
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday said that his party has in- principle decided to revamp its organisational structure by appointing new District Congress Committees (DCCs) within 15 days.
“I got an approval from the AICC also on this. Once new districts came into existence, as a political party we need to bring in changes according the new set up,” he said.
The PCC president said the party will begin search for DCC presidents as they will have come from areas coming under the new districts. Mr Reddy said the PCC will also very soon fill the post of Hyderabad DCC president, which has remained vacant after Danam Nagender had quit.
