Stop bloodbath in Kannur: Ramesh Chennithala

He claimed that the previous UDF government had put an end to the killings.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has said that the situation in Kannur had gone out of control with the rival parties settling scores through murders and striking fear among the people. "A war-like atmosphere prevails there and the bloodbath has to be stopped," he said. The political killing were continuing with the CPM branch secretary Kuzhachalil Mohanan falling a victim first and a BJP youth Remit next on Wednesday morning, he said.

During the last few days, the leaders of both political parties have been attacking the rivals' homes and unleashing terror. "The police are unable to check the killings and it is blood for blood now. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's provocative statement about retaliating against the attackers had come true, he said.

He claimed that the previous UDF government had put an end to the killings. The real culprits were nabbed and instigators were slapped with cases. Now the situation had become grim after the LDF came to power, he said.

"The list of the accused is being given by the party offices helping the original accused to kill the party workers without fear or remorse. The police must take stern action to control the violence in Kannur, he added.
