No one arrested yet in Kuzhichalil Mohanan murder case in Kannur

A case was registered against 10 BJP/RSS workers of the area, but none of them has been held.

Kannur: Though prohibitory orders are in place in Kuthuparamba police station limits and a high alert has been sounded after the murder of CPM local committee member Kuzhichalil Mohanan on Monday, the police has not arrested anyone so far.

A case was registered against 10 BJP/RSS workers of the area, but none of them has been held. However, sources said that the police had received clues on the killers, but they are moving carefully before making the arrests.

BJP district president V. Sathyaprakash alleged that except for a few officers, the police were behaving like puppets of the CPM. "The houses of the BJP/RSS workers were attacked when over 20 police personnel were camping in the area. Over 10 BJP men are paralysed after the attack by the CPM activists in the last one year in the district. The attack on the opposition party workers is a daily affair when the CPM is in power," said Mr Sathyaprakash.

However, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that the BJP had a hidden agenda to portray that Kerala is not safe under the CPM rule. "Five CPM workers were killed after the new government took charge. Over 80 houses and 35 party offices were attacked. Even the Congress is silently supporting these attacks on the CPM. The KPCC has not even issued a single statement against the murder of Mohanan," stated Mr Kodiyeri.

Vadakara MP Mullappally Ramachandran said that each murder is a 'celebration time' for the CPM and the BJP. "The parties are busy collecting funds in the name of the martyrs and constructing memorials. The chief minister is not able to restore peace in his own village. He is the weakest home minister the state has ever had," he stated.
