CEE to put onus on Karuna Medical College in HC
Thiruvananthapuram: The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) will report to the high court that the Kannur and Karuna Medical colleges have not provided details needed for conducting spot admissions contrary to laid down procedures when the case came up before the high court on Thursday.
CEE B S Mavoji on Wednesday held discussions with Advocate General C P Sudhakara Prasad on the stand to be taken in the court following the indifferent attitude of the two medical colleges to spot admissions.
Kannur medical college did not produce any documents related to the students admitted to the college, Karuna Medical College did not provide the complete details of the students. Sources said that during the discussions, it was also decided to submit the list of candidates that had applied to the colleges, ranked according to the NEET rank list along, with the report.
The spot admissions for 150 seats each in KMCT and Kannur medical colleges and 100 seats in Karuna medical college were held on October 7, the revised deadline fixed by the Supreme Court. Only KMCT had provided details of the admission procedures.
The High court had earlier made it clear that the CEE should supervise the admission procedure during the spot admissions. The ranks list should be prepared completely from the NEET list and the Commissioner should ensure this, the order issued by Justice P R Ramachandra Menon and Justice P Somarajan had said.
