Naval ships reach Malaysia

The ships will be participating in the Indian Navy – Royal Malaysian Navy bilateral exercise, Samudra Lakshmana.

Visakhapatnam: As part of India’s ‘Act East’ policy and Indian Navy’s commitment to the vision of safe and secure seas for growth, ships of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet with Rear Admiral Suraj Berry, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet embarked onboard are on an operational deployment to the South China Sea, South East Asia and the East China Sea. Indigenously designed and built frontline warships of Eastern Fleet, INS Sahyadri, a stealth frigate and INS Kiltan, an anti-submarine corvette reached to Kota Kinabalu on Thursday on a five-day visit Malaysia.

Indian Navy ships would operate with the Royal Malaysia Navy towards strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing interoperability between the two navies. The ships will be participating in the Indian Navy – Royal Malaysian Navy bilateral exercise, Samudra Lakshmana.

During the harbour and sea phases of the exercise from September 12 to 16, ships would work together to validate mutual understanding, strengthen interoperability and standard common operating procedures for Maritime Security Operations.
