Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami launched ruling party's television channel, 'News J' here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the function held in Kalaivanar Arangam, Palaniswami said, "Even as more number of channels are run in the state, many channels fail to broadcast welfare and schemes implemented during Amma regime. Further, all political parties run channels and the former chief minister also launched party's channel, but it unfortunately reached the hands of some people (indicating party rebels)".
Stating that News J channel was launched to telecast happenings of the world, Palaniswami said, "People should immediately know what is happening around them."
"Moreover, channels run by Opposition parties would often telecast even small issues in the state. Schemes implemented in the state should reach people and there should be good response," he said, adding that they launched News J channel for such purposes only.
Pointing out that the state has been quintessential in terms of all sectors including medical and transport, the Chief Minister said, "The state has received more awards for our achievement."
He hoped that News J channel would receive good response from people and wished the channel success and growth.
