Visakhapatnam: The district administration and city police are geared up for the smooth conduct of third BRICS Urbanisation Forum meet, which will be held in the city from September 14 to 16.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the meet in the presence of Minister of Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu and a few others.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday, joint commissioner of police, A.S. Khan said security has been beefed up as 70 delegates from Brazil, China, Russia and South Africa will be attending the three-day summit. Apart from them, there will be over 230 delegates from India.
Coming to the security arrangements, Mr Khan said about 2,000 policemen drawn from various battalions including elite forces such as Octopus, Greyhounds and AP Special Police, would be deployed at the venues of the meetings.
For personal security of the delegates, the city security wing has been strengthened by drawing men from the 13 districts in the state.
Navy, Coast Guard and Coastal Security Police (CSP) will augment the security arrangements and check threats from the seaside.
ADCP (Traffic) K. Mahendra Patrudu said 47 CCTV cameras, including five on the Beach Road, have been synchronised to the Central Command Control Centre and will be manned round-the-clock during the summit by a special team. The cops made it clear that the meet will be held at four venues on the Beach Road but there will be no traffic restrictions on the route and advised motorists to give way to the vehicles of VVIPs.
