Vjayawada: Cracking the whip on those who constructed the buildings illegally after cut-off date of Building Penalisation Scheme, AP Capital Regional Development Authority (CRDA)) demolished several buildings in and around Vijayawada on Monday.

According to the CRDA, the unauthorised constructions were identified during inspections at Penamaluru. The buildings were granted permission by village panchayat for construction ground plus two floors for residential buildings. However, builders violated rules by constructing one or two additional floors and converted them for apartment purpose.

Additional floors in the buildings owned by Ch. Nagar Raja Kumari, K. Subramanyam in Pedapulipaka, Shanti Sowmya, Mohammed Mullashamaudhi, S. Ramachandra Reddy in Tadigadapa have been demolished. Around 15 buildings were razed so far in the past few days. The CRDA warned gram panchayats not to grant permission for construction of apartments and group houses.

“As per AP Buildings rules, the minimum road width shall be 30 feet. Builders are constructing apartments and group houses in plots having narrow roads. Public are cautioned not to purchase apartment and group houses which are constructed without permissions as per the rules,”the CRDA said.
