21-year-old dies of heart stroke while playing cricket in Nandyal

Kurnool: A 21-year-old lorry driver died of a suspected heart stroke while playing cricket with his friends in Nandyal district on Sunday, the second case of sudden death in two days.

Police said the victim, Mahendra was a lorry driver from Sanjeevanagar Colony in Bethamcharla. He and his friends were playing near an LPG cylinder godown in the afternoon when Mahendra collapsed. His friends swiftly rushed him to a hospital, but doctors confirmed his death shortly after his arrival.

In another incident on Saturday, a 35-year-old man died while riding his two-wheeler. Police said the victim, Peddaeeranna, was on his way to his native village of Tippaladoddi in Kosigi mandal of Kurnool when he suffered a heart attack.

He stopped the vehicle and sat on the ground. Onlookers observed his condition and tried to help him but he died soon after. They alerted his family members after going through his contact list, and the police. Peddaeranna had recently relocated with his family to Mahbubnagar in Telangana and was travelling home.
