VIJAYAWADA: Sarvodaya Trust and Dream Young & Children’s Art Academy organised district-level essay writing and drawing competitions for students here on Friday as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to mark the 75th Independence Day of India.
Students categorised into groups of Class 6 to Class 10, intermediate and degree participated in the competitions; the topics being “Important Moments of Independence” for drawing and “Have objectives of Independence movement been achieved – Our duty” for essay writing. As many as 500 students from 15 schools and a few colleges participated in the competitions held at the Freedom Fighter Association Building in Vijayawada.
Addressing media on the occasion, Sarvodaya Trust president Dr. G.V. Mohan Prasad said the aim of these competitions is to inculcate patriotism among present generations of children and youth. He pointed out that the current generation is unaware about the freedom struggle, its history and attainment of Indian Independence.
Dr. Mohan Prasad said all competing students will be given participation certificates and winners given prizes on August 15 at 9 am after the flag hoisting programme. He asked students to follow the principles of great freedom fighters and render services to the society and nation in all possible ways.
