Kancheepuram: Temple priest found dead, his bike, mobile missing

Witnesses said that they saw the priest’s mouth frothing.

Chennai: In a suspected case of robbery, the Anjaneyar temple priest was found strangled under mysterious circumstances in Kancheepuram on Monday.

According to police, Prem Kumar (41), temple priest of an Anjaneyar temple in Keerapakkam near Guduvanchery, was found dead on Urapakkam-Kattur Salai on Monday morning. Passersby alerted police. Guduvanchery police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Chengalpattu government hospital for post-mortem. Sources said that Prem Kumar lived in a house in Kattur and also owned a rabbit and chicken farm near his house. Guduvanchery police registered a case and began enquiries. They suspect the involvement of robbers in the murder since the priest’s two-wheeler and mobile phone were missing.

Witnesses said that they saw the priest’s mouth frothing. They are investigating the case from all possible angles and are awaiting the post-mortem report.
