Hyderabad: IMD issues heavy rainfall warning

A couple of days without rain has erased the surplus that the state enjoyed in the first week of the month.

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a caution that there would be heavy to very heavy rainfall in Telangana state on August 13 and 14.

On Monday, the state received light to moderate rainfall in a few districts including Medak, Kama-reddy, Rajanna Sircilla. The rainfall recorded was of the order of 40 mm. Quthbullapur, Alwal, Kapra, Malkajgiri and other areas received light to moderate showers and the skies remained cloudy throughout the day.

Heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Medak, Vikarabad, Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Jagtial, Naray-anpet, Ranga Reddy and others. The other districts will see light to moderate rainfall. The IMD had earlier predicted dry days till August 15. Incidentally, this is the second time that a weather bulletin is being reversed. Last week, the IMD reversed a weather forecast of dry days because a depression developed in the Bay of Bengal. The weather system later moved towards Odisha.

A couple of days without rain has erased the surplus that the state enjoyed in the first week of the month.

The rainfall is now rated as normal. The state has received 465 mm rainfall since the onset of monsoon, which is close to the average of the last five years of 463.6 mm.
