Kerala CM to inaugurate 9 new police stations
Thiruvananthapuram: Nine more new police stations, including the first fully computerised police station at Nagaroor in Thiruvananthapuram rural, will be inaugurated on Monday.
According to an official statement from the state police, the nine new stations include five local stations - Nagaroor in Thiruvananthapuram, Achankovil in Kollam, Kaypamanagalm in Thrissur, Koppam in Palakkad and Thondarnad in Wayanad.
Four new coastal police stations will be also inaugurated on Monday - Poovar and Anjuthengu in Thiruvananthapuram and Vadakara and Elathur in Kozhikode. New buildings for New Mahe police station in Kannur, Kuzhalmandam in Palakkad and Kuruthikkad in Alappuzha would be also inaugurated on Monday.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Nagaroor police station and will also declare the other police stations inaugurated through video conferencing.
Ministers and local leaders will attend the functions to be held at each station.
According to the statement, with the setting up of five new local police stations, the total number of local stations in the state will become 477.
The current government had announced that 13 new police stations would be set up, of which Pinarayi police station was already inaugurated. Notifications for the remaining police stations were already issued.
