Hyderabad: Visitors to Kaleshwaram stranded in flood, saved

More than a 100 people in buses had come to see the Kaleshwaram project work from Sangareddy.

Hyderabad: A major accident was averted on Sunday when visitors to the Kaleshwaram project, whose bus was stranded in flood water, were saved.

More than a 100 people in buses had come to see the Kaleshwaram project work from Sangareddy. One of their vehicles was stranded in the flood waters when they were returning to Kannepalli village after visiting the Annaram barrage near Chandrupalli village in Old Karimnagar district.

A bus in which some of the visitors were travelling got stuck in the Chandravalli rivulet which was flowing higher than usual following heavy rain.

The incident took place when the three buses were crossing the Chandravalli rivulet.

Two of the buses successfully crossed the rivulet but one bus got stuck in the flood waters.

The villagers and local police managed to pull the bus out in time. The tourists inside the bus started screaming after a while as the flood water was rapidly increasing.

In another incident, two labourers working at the construction site of Sundilla barrage were stranded when water was released downstream from the Yellampalli project following heavy rain.

The incident took place near Sirpuram village in Manthani mandal in Peddapalli district.The rescue teams including professional swimmers tried their best to save the two workers but failed initially to reach them.

Finally, the stranded workers with the help of the police, reached the bank on the other side of the river Godavari at Kistapur village.
