Chennai: Actor Vikram son's car rams into parked auto-rickshaws, 2 hurt
Chennai: In a major embarrassment to national award winning actor Vikram, his son Dhruv Krishnan allowed his car to run amok and in the process ramming three parked auto-rickshaws in Alwarpet in the small hours of Sunday.
Two auto drivers — J. Kamalesh (26) of Royapettah and his friend Aravind — were injured in the incident. While Aravind escaped with minor injuries, Kamalesh is severely injured and has been admitted to Government Royapettah Hospital.
According to the police, the accident took place at around 3.30 am on Sunday on TTK Road in Alwarpet. "The black Maruti Suzuki Baleno, said to be registered in the name of Vikram and driven by Dhruv, ran amok and hit the auto rickshaws parked on the roadside.
The injured auto drivers were sleeping in their auto-rickshaws,” the police said. Dhruv allegedly tried to flee in the car but hit the median on Murray’s Gate Road. Dhruv has been booked for rash driving and causing injuries to others due to negligence and released on self-bail.
While Dhruv’s car was damaged in the accident, the auto-rickshaws were mangled due to the impact. Further investigation is on, the police said. The police, however, ruled out the allegations of drunken driving saying Dhruv and his two friends were not under the influence of alcohol. Dhruv is all set to make his acting debut in the Tamil remake of Telugu block-buster Arjun Reddy, which is helmed by director Bala.
