The two governments recently approved mutual transfer of staff between both the states on spouse and health grounds.

Hyderabad: WhatsApp is helping government employees seeking mutual transfer between TS and AP get in touch with each other.

Several WhatsApp groups have been formed by employees in various departments that enable them to post their mutual transfer requests.

Employees are posting details about their jobs, their job location and preferred location for mutual transfer on the groups. After agreement, both the employees are submitting applications to governments seeking mutual transfer.

The two governments recently approved mutual transfer of staff between both the states on spouse and health grounds.

“Earlier, mutual transfers were based on luck. Employees used to submit applications seeking transfer to a particular location without knowing whether that particular vacancy exists in that location or not. Due to this, most the applications used to get rejected,” said Mr A. Padma Chary, president of the Telangana Udyogula Sangham.

With WhatsApp groups, identifying vacancies in a particular location has become easier, he said. “The chances of rejection of applications have come down."

The government is allowing mutual transfers only if vacancies exist in their preferred locations and these vacancies arise only if existing staff agree for mutual transfer. Over 5,000 employees have already submitted applications during the past three days.

After bifurcation of the state, the Kamalnathan Committee bifurcated over 55,000 staff between AP and TS. With this, several employees got postings in TS and AP against their wishes.

Employed couples, where the spouses were allotted to different states, who now want to shift to a single location seeking mutual transfer with employees facing similar problem.

There is huge demand for postings in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts in Telangana state and Vijayawada, Vizag and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
