Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has presented the holy Venkanna sari, a traditional presentation of TTD comprising a sari, Kumkum, Pasupu and bangles to Goddess Krishnamma.
This was done as a Lord Venkateswara offering for the Krishna Pushkaralu, which began with colour and gaiety in the early hours of Friday.
The Chief Minister along with his ministers and family members took the holy bath at Durga ghat in the morning, setting off the festival, and later presented the Venkanna sari to river goddess Krishnamma.
Team of TTD officials, led by JEO K.S. Sreenivasa Raju, brought the holy Venkanna sari from Tirumala for the event. TTD set up a model Srivari temple here for the sake of devotees at the PWD grounds, where daily rituals on the lines of that in Tirumala temple are also being conducted as per Agama shastras.
TTD also made arrangements for distribution of Anna Prasadam for nearly 1,00,000 devotees daily. It would present Venkanna Harati in the evening after it is taken in a procession from the model temple to Durga Ghat every day.
