Krishna river water row: Andhra minister says Telangana violating directives
Vijayawada: Water resources minister P. Anil Kumar Yadav has asserted that Andhra Pradesh is using its lawful share of water and it is Telangana that is violating all directives of Krishna River Management Board.
In this context, he accused Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu of trying to create differences among people of various districts within AP. On Naidu’s prompting, TD legislators from Prakasam district are demanding stoppage of work on the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS), he charged.
Speaking to media at the party central office here on Monday, the minister pointed out that TD leaders of Prakasam district have written a letter seeking dropping of proposal for increasing the capacity of RLIS at Srisailam from 44,000 cusecs to 80,000 cusecs. “This is only to create a rift among people of different regions,” he remarked.
Terming TDP as Telangana Desam Party, Anil Kumar accused TD leaders of echoing what Telangana leaders are saying on the Krishna River water issue.
He listed out the irrigation projects developed by former chief minister Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in combined Andhra Pradesh and asserted that Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has now gone one step ahead in completing various irrigation projects across the state.
The minister said while all political parties in Telangana have come on one platform on Krishna water issue, Naidu in Andhra Pradesh has been making his district leaders take different stands for political gains.
