Nagapattinam: Man attacked for beef-eating post on Facebook, four arrested

According to the police Fisan, belonging to Perumal koil street of Poravachery posted in his Facebook photos and news about beef eating.

Nagapattinam: Police arrested four persons for allegedly attacking a person who praised the taste of beef through the Facebook network at Poravacherry village near Nagapattinam on Friday.

Police said Mohammad Faizan of that village posted a content about the taste of beef and its soup after consuming the same near Kalpakkam on Thursday and praised the taste in his post.

On seeing this, four persons Dinesh, Agathiyan, Ganesh Kumar, and Kumar of the same village forcibly entered into the house of Mohammad Faizan attacked him with deadly weapons, inflicting cut injuries on his hands and shoulder.

The victim was rushed to the Government headquarters hospital here.

Keelvelur police registered a case, arrested the four persons and are investigating.

G. SRINIVASAN ADDS FROM THANJAVUR: Keelvelur police in Nagapattinam district arrested four persons on Friday, for allegedly attacking Mohammed Fisan (24) of Poravachery village in Keelvelur police limits for posting photos and details of eating beef in the facebook.

Arrested persons were Dineshkumar (28) son of Nadarajan, Agasthiyan (28), son of Rajendran, Ganeshkumar (27) son of Arumugam, and Mohankumar (28), son of Mathiyalagan of Poravachery village.

According to the police Fisan, belonging to Perumal koil street of Poravachery posted in his Facebook photos and news about beef eating. On seeing this, the four allegedly picked up a quarrel with Fisan and attacked him on Thursday. Fisan was admitted to Nagapattinam government hospital. After the incident, on instructions from Rajasekaran, Superintendent of police, Nagapattinam, Keelvelur police arrested the four, produced them in court. They were remanded to custody. Meanwhile state secretary CPI(M) K. Balakrishnan, condemned the attack on Muslims.
