Nellore: District collector M.V. Seshagiri Babu directed the officials of Nellore municipal corporation to impose a fine on the house owners dumping sand and bricks on the road while constructing their buildings.
The collector had stumbled upon some material, dumped on the road, during a surprise visit to different parts of Nellore, including Balaji Nagar and Magunta Layout areas on Friday.
He told the Civic body staff to examine reasons for problems in water supply in some areas when women complained to him at Balaji Nagar.
He pulled up the sanitary staff of the civic body when he found garbage dumps in Magunta Layout and instructed them to clear the same immediately.
Taking serious view of denizens’ practice of throwing garbage into the canals, he directed the officials concerned to identify and impose fine on them.
He said traders should also keep garbage bins outside their shops and make use of them to maintain cleanliness.
Municipal commissioner S.K. Aleem Basha was also present with him.
