Kerala: US firm offers Rs 31 Lakh for Model Engineering College graduates
KOCHI: The ongoing campus recruitment at Model Engineering College at Thrikkakkara saw Nutanix, a cloud computing software firm based in California, US, making an offer of Rs 31 lakh, the highest during the recruitment process held here on Wednesday. DE Shaw & Co, an investment firm, made the next highest offer of Rs 26.5 lakh during the recruitment.
According to the placement services cell of the college, the campus recruitment saw good response from top notch IT companies despite the slowdown in the sector. Nearly 80 firms taking part in recruitment process is a very good response in these times, said the college authorities. Apart from the two companies mentioned others attending the recruitment included Deloitte, SAP Labs, Oracle, Yahoo, Adobe, Bosch, Amazon, Synopsis and many others.
The average salary offered by manufacturing companies has seen an increase to tune of Rs 7 lakhs, while the offer from services sector moved up by Rs 4.5 lakhs.
Model Engineering College, established in 1989 under the state government owned IHRD, offers courses in B.Tech courses in electronic and communication, computer science, electrical and electronics and M.Tech courses in design and embedded systems, signal processing, opto electronics, image processing and energy management.
The college has been declared a model college in 2005 and currently affiliated with the APJ Abdul Kalam Technology University.
