UP minister Shivpal Singh Yadav admits backing' terror

Minister said inadvertently that the Samajwadi Party had always supported terrorists.

Lucknow: A slip of tongue by UP minister Shivpal Singh Yadav has put the Samajwadi Party at the centre of a fresh controversy. Talking to reporters in Etawah on Monday, the minister said inadvertently that the Samajwadi Party had always supported terrorists.

“SP hamesha se aatankvadiyon aur rashtra drohiyon ki pakshdhar rahi hai,” he is heard saying in the video clip. The video shows Shivpal as saying initially that his party was opposed to divisive elements and castigating the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly trying to foment communal hatred and dividing the society.

In the following sentence, he suffered a slip of tongue and went on to say that his party supported terrorists. UP BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak, meanwhile, said, “In the past SP leader Mohd Azam Khan had said that the Taliban and Dawood Ibrahim had sponsored the birthday bash of Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav in Rampur. Now Mr Shivpal Yadav is admitting to SP’s stand towards terrorists.”
