Aggrieved cops can meet me anytime: Karnataka Home Minister

Parameshwar said though police force was disciplined, there is a mechanism to address grievances of men in khaki.

Bengaluru: Making a fervent plea to police personnel to desist from taking an extreme step, home minister Dr G Parameshwar said any officer, on being denied promotion or not given a posting, could approach him anytime.

Making a statement in the Council on Tuesday, he said though police force was disciplined, there is a mechanism to address grievances of men in khaki. If police officers have any grouse or complaints, they could approach the designated authority to even out grievances. Some things need to be set right which would be done in the coming days.

When leader of Opposition K S Eshwarappa brought to the notice of Dr Parameshwar about the brother of police inspector, G.N. Mohan, expressing plans to commit suicide over denial of posting since last one year, the home minister said the doors of his office are open for any officer to meet and share their grievances. "I promise to address their complaints".

Mr B.J. Puttaswamy said the state has two home ministers, Dr Parameshwar and former IPS officer, Mr Kempaiah. While the real home minister was helpless, Mr Kempaiah was wielding influence in transfer of police officers because of his close proximity to theCM. Denying this, Dr Parameshwar said there was only one home minister and that was himself.
