The boys involved in the death of Ramya in a road accident are believed to have consumed liquor at the Banjara Hills bar.

Hyderabad: Based on recommendations made by the police department, the excise and prohibitions department has sent a show cause notice to the TGI Friday’s bar and restaurant, asking it to explain why liquor was served to minors.

Cops too have registered a case under section 36(1)(g) of Excise and Prohibition Act against the TGIF bar for serving liquor to minors. Suspects involved in the death of Ramya are believed to have consumed liquor at the Banjara Hills bar before they drove out. All six accused were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Panjagutta police found that all the accused were B.Tech students - under 18 years of age.

Hyderabad excise superintendent B. Jyothi Kiran confirmed to the Deccan Chronicle that a show cause notice has been sent to representatives of the establishment. “We are probing all bars in the city insisting that they strictly follow orders. ‘Driving under the Influence of Alcohol’ programme needs all this,” he said. The excise department would recommend cancelation of licence of bars violating rules.
