Can't trust CID, want CBI probe: Ganapati's family
BENGALURU: “I was in shock and my hands were shivering. I was in no position to give any statement to the police on the day my son died. I signed whatever statement the police gave it to me without even reading its contents,” said the late DySP M.K. Ganapati’s father Kushalappa on Tuesday.
He wants the police to consider the statements given by his daughter-in-law Pavana and grandson Nehal to carry out further investigations.
The other family members of Mr Ganapati demanded a CBI probe as the developments after the suicide suggest that there is a conspiracy to shield those named by Mr Ganapati.
Kushalappa, his wife Jaaji, Mr Ganapati’s wife Pavana, son Nehal and other family members addressed a press conference at their residence at Rangasamudra of Somwarpet taluk on Tuesday.
Recalling the incidents that unfolded on Thursday, Mr Kushalappa said that he received a phone call around 8.30 pm informing him about his son’s death.
“I rushed to the lodge in Madikeri. After seeing my son hanging in a room, I sat in the adjacent room as my legs were hurting. Meanwhile, the police asked me to give a written statement. But I was in shock and my hands were shivering. I could not write. After a while, a policeman gave me a document, which I did not even read before signing. I thought it was the complaint copy requesting further legal action like postmortem and other procedures. But I never told anyone that my son was under depression or he had family issues,” he said.
He demanded that as he had not read the document which he signed, the police should consider the complaint given by his daughter-in-law Pavana and grandson Nehal.
He said that when he went to the room where his son was found hanging, he noticed a piece of paper and the room key on the table. “I don’t know where they went. I don’t know whether that piece of paper was a death note,” he said.
