Hyderabad High Court stays G2 posts for 3 weeks

While granting the stay, the judge issued notices to the TSPSC, directing them to file their counter.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) to stay the process of recruitment for Group II posts for three weeks.

Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao was hearing a lunch motion moved by Purighalla Sri Charandas Goswami and 20 others, and another petition by V. Ramachandra Reddy and 14 others. The aspirants challenged the merit list, alleging that there were many irregularities and illegalities in evaluating answer sheets and in preparing the list.

M. Surender Rao and B. Rachana Reddy, counsels appearing for the petitioners, told the court that the TSPSC has released guidelines to be followed while answering questions in the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets and as per these guidelines, candidates shall not use whiteners and erasers. But the answer sheets of the candidates who used whiteners and erasers to rub out answers in the OMR sheets, were also included in the merit list. They said that recently as many as 10 candidates, who made the corrections using whiteners and erasers, moved the High Court seeking direction to the commission to consider their answers, but the High Court has rejected their plea and dismissed their case.

The counsels said that, surprisingly, the names of these 10 candidates were incorporated in the merit list. They said that the irregularities in preparing the merit list has resulted in depriving the opportunity by the merit candidates.

While granting the stay, the judge issued notices to the TSPSC, directing them to file their counter.
