Kothagudem: Aswaraopeta MLA Thati Venkateswarlu slapped a person at Mandalapalli Crossroads on Monday, taking officials by surprise. The recipient of his wrath was Venkappa, a resident of Parkalagandi. The incident occurred in the Tribal Welfare School at Mandalapalli cross-roads, where a cricket tournament was being held and the MLA had gone there as chief guest.
Mr Venkappa, a tribal, approached him and demanded to know the relationship status between the MLA and his (Mr Venkappa’s) daughter.
According to Mr Venkappa, the people of his village were linking his daughter with the MLA and he wanted to know the truth. But the MLA was in no mood to reveal the truth or otherwise. So furious was he with the query that he slapped Mr Venkappa.
Later, Venkappa was taken to the police station and allegedly beaten up by the cops. As the news spread, relatives of Mr Venkappa rushed to the police station. The MLA was unavailable for comment.
