Terrorist killed, civilian dead as militants attack CRPF camp in J&K

Terrorists were travelling in a State Road Transport Corporation bus, which was stopped for checking by the security personnel.

Jammu: A woman tourist was killed and two other civilians were injured when a lone militant opened fire at a security checkpost being held jointly by police and CRPF in Kud area along the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Monday. In subsequent brief encounter, the security forces gunned down the assailant.

The camp, located about 170 kms from here, came under attack from militants, believed to be more than one in number, who were travelling in a State Road Transport Corporation bus which was stopped for checking by a joint party of CRPF and J&K police.

J&K police chief, K Rajendra Kumar, confirmed the death of the militant and a civilian and injuries to two others in the incident. He said that the identity of the slain militant is being ascertained and also trying to locate from where he boarded the bus.
