Sangareddy jail to get Kids park
Hyderabad: The prisons’ museum at Sangareddy which was opened on June 5 will be turned into an amusement park for children. Prisons’ officials plan to introduce gaming zones for children in order to develop the museum as a tourist spot.
The prison was build in 1767 during the Asaf Jahi rule and is considered the oldest in the state.
Prisons’ DG V.K. Singh, who took the intitiative to establish the museum, said he had visited the jail when he was the SP of Medak district 20 years back. “As the jail was not in use for years, we planned to turn it into museum last year and work was done on a war-footing,” he said.
The jail has several prison-related antiques. The histories of prominent persons who lodged in Telangana prisons from Bhakta Ramadasu in Golkonda to K. Chandrasekhar Rao during the statehood agitation has been featured.
He said that a team from the prisons department was studying gaming zones at various places. “Once the study is complete, we will start the children amusement park on a half-an-acre site. We are also planning Ayurvedic village in the museum,” he said.
