Hyderabad: CCS focus now on pending cases
Hyderabad: While the modernisation of CCS buildings started months ago, officials are now focusing on clearing pending cases. As many as 2,800 cases starting from 2008 are pending with CCS. Investigation of around 1,000 cases has been completed and charge sheets filed but they await CC numbers from court.
Officials are looking at reallotting cases to officers depending on the status of investigation. CCS comprises cyber crime, women’s police station, Special Investigation Team and Central Crime Station. CCS deals with economic offences of over Rs 30 lakh and major economic offences.
Central Crime Station is one of the most important wings of the city police and is located in the heart of the city opposite the Assembly.
The building houses different wings under CCS, cyber crime, SIT, Clues team and women’s police station as well. With the building growing old, modernisation started a couple of months ago.
“Not only will a good building serve the needs of the people but the work of officers will also improve,” CCS DCP, Avinash Mohanty said. CCS takes up cases involving major fraud, cheating, robbery, dacoity and passports. He said pending cases are in different categories and need to be reviewed as a whole.
Irrespective of nature all cases are being looked into and disposed of in chronological order. The women’s police station tops the list with around 1,100 cases registered of which more than half are pending for court case number.
“Clearing pending cases is as important as probing new cases. The investigation may not help get back the property lost by the victims but bringing the culprits to law will be a relief to the victims,” Mr Mohanty said, adding that cases allocated to each officer are reviewed regularly and possibilities of reallocating them is also looked into.
