Bengaluru: Police organise cleaning drive for rowdies

Bengaluru: Over 250 rowdies who have multiple cases against them cleaned up a dispensary, school, park and storm water drain as part of a cleaning drive conducted by the west division police on Sunday.

The exercise was to instill civic sense among the anti-social elements and bring them back to the mainstream society, a senior police officer said.

The west division, which is infamous for its rowdy activities, has opened 650 rowdy sheets against habitual offenders. Many of these rowdies have reformed and are trying to lead a normal life, said a police official.”

The police selected young, energetic men for the job. The entire area was cleaned, but their plans to paint the school and the park were spoiled by rain, another officer who supervised the cleaning drive said.

They cleaned the police quarters, dispensary and park located on the premises of the quarters on Magadi Road. Later, they were taken around to clean the government school and hospital premises and next to Summanahalli flyover.
