I promised to Sonia Gandhi to deliver Karnataka, says an emotional DKS
Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief DK Shivakumar became emotional while speaking about the party’s landslide victory in Karnataka. Shivakumar said he had promised to Sonia Gandhi that he would deliver Karnataka.
"I assured Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge that I will deliver Karnataka. I can't forget Sonia Gandhi coming to meet me in jail when BJP put me there. I rather chose to be in jail than have an office. That is the confidence that the Gandhi family, Congress and the entire country bestowed on me," an emotional Shivakumar, said.
The 61-year-old leader, an aspirant for the Chief Minister's post, said: "The Congress office is our temple. We will decide our next step at the Congress office."
"I thank all leaders in my state including Siddaramaiah," he said.
The Congress crossed the halfway mark in Karnataka in less than two hours of counting. The party is inching close to win 135 seats of the
224-member Assembly.
