Visakhapatnam: 2 dead, ganja found in car after mishap

The incident took place on the Araku-Paderu road in Vizianagaram district early on Sunday.

Visakhapatnam: Two students travelling in a car were killed and one injured after a truck ramed into their vehicle. Police found later that the car was carrying 21.8 kg of ganja. The incident took place on the Araku-Paderu road in Vizianagaram district early on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Bantupalli Vinay Bhaskar and Veeramreddy Satvik, both 19 and belonging to East Godavari while Penumuchu Sai Mithun, 22, survived, Mithun was immediately shifted to King George Hospital in Vizag.

Bhaskar was a first-year hotel management student and the other two were doing their engineering in the city.

Witnesses said that the lorry was being driven rashly and was at high speed. It crossed over to the other side of the highway and hit the car carrying the students. Locals who saw the accident called the Kothavalasa police who rushed to the spot. The Kothavalasa police has registered two cases, one against the lorry driver for the rash driving and the other on the students for transporting ganja.
