Hyderabad: An autorickshaw driver was murdered by his wife's father and brother when he went to visit his three-month-old daughter at his in-laws' place on Saturday night. The Dundigal police have reported that the accused bludgeoned the victim to death with a dumbbell.

The victim has been identified as Shaik Amer, 26, a resident of Jeedimetla. He was in love with one Heena Begum, a resident of Khaisarnagar, Dundigal. The two got married about 15 months ago in the presence of elders from both the families. Three months ago, the couple had a baby girl.

“A dispute arose between Heena and Amer’s mother about 15 days ago. Following this dispute, Heena went back to her maternal home. A week later, she filed a complaint at the Balanagar police station alleging harassment by Amer,” Dundigal sub-inspector G. Shekar Reddy said.

“On Saturday night, Amer reportedly arrived inebriated at his in-laws’ place and a quarrel ensued with his wife when he tried to take pictures of their daughter. Heena’s brother Ismail and father Mahroof attacked Amer. Ismail hit Amer on his head with a dumbbell," he added.

The locals at the spot alerted the police and rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, he died on the way.
