TD to reflect at Mahanadu

Discuss post-March developments.

VIJAYAWADA: The series of political developments taking place since March of this year, have prompted the ruling Telugu Desam to introspect and internalise.

The recent TDLP meeting had discussed elaborately about the incidents and events starting from Mr Pawan Kalyan’s public meeting to former chief secretary Mr I.Y.R. Krishna Rao’s direct accusations about the Telugu Desam cadres.

Correlating these two events as the manifestation of an organised conspiracy, the ruling Telugu Desam leaders have urged the Chief Minister and the Telugu Desam national chief Mr Chandrababu Naidu to concentrate more on the moves of the other political parties in the state.

According to senior leaders of the ruling party, the opposition parties have started organised attacks on Telugu Desam, to demoralise the cadres. In fact, in the coming Mahanadu, the TD wants to pass a resolution about all these developments, according to sources.

The BJP leaders are saying that anything may happen after June 15, but the TD wants to send them a befitting reply from the dais of Mahanadu itself, a party senior leader said. In fact, the March 14 meeting of Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan itself had sent the first signal to the ruling Telugu Desam that opposition parties were uniting with a different formula.

Pawan Kalyan had levelled serious allegations against IT minister Mr Nara Lokesh and had tried to tarnish the image of the hierarchy in the TD leadership. Somehow, TD didn’t take that incident as seriously as it should have, say TD leaders. In the next few days, former chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao’s book-Whose Capital Amaravati was released in Vijayawada, which attracted the attention of mass as well as the elite sections of the society.

Though the differences between TD and BJP increased in the state, much before the exit of BJP from state Cabinet, the TD didn’t give much importance to them. Finally, the seriousness in BJP’s strategies hit TD badly on all fronts. Talking on this, a TD senior leader also termed former CS’s attack on Telugu Desam, as part of the “hidden agenda” of the opposition parties. Though he didn’t name BJP or Jana Sena as the reason behind IYR’s attack on TD supremo and also on his son Lokesh, he said the whole episode was perfectly doctored by BJP headquarters. “It is not the strength of Mr I.Y.R. alone, there is a hidden force behind him,” the TD leader said categorically.

All these issues will come up for discussion in the coming Mahanadu to be held later this month, and the Telugu Desam party will pass a resolution to take the issues to the people.

Ready to face anything: Naidu’s counter to BJP

“We are ready to face anything. Show us whatever you wish, we are ready to accept the challenge,” Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said. He made this observation to counter the comments of BJP MP G.V.L. Narasimha Rao.
He reiterated that they were not scared of anybody or anything.

Mr Naidu has criticised the opposition for not questioning BJP or Central government regarding special category status. Instead, they are criticising me, he added. The CM said that his government is working for people’s welfare.
