TD MLA Sugunamma protests at police station
TIRUPATI: TD MLA Sugunamma, in the aftermath of the Amit Shah incident, on Saturday staged a protest at the Alipiri police station demanding the release of the person who was taken into custody by police on Friday. The TD leaders waited at the police station throughout the night on Friday but the police failed to free him but produced the man in front of a magistrate on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, M. Sugunamma said, “Our activists protested in a democratic manner but one of the BJP leader’s car tried to intimidate the TD activists by giving a scare, so our activist broke the glass of the car. Later the BJP leader also punched our activists. Most of our leaders have been hospitalised. The police took action based on the complaint by BJP leaders. We demand our complaints also be considered”.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders staged a protest demanding the Chief Minister to tender apology and the home minister to quit, by taking responsibility of the incident.
Speaking to media persons, BJP leader Bhanu Prakash Reddy said, “The CM says to take action, while MLA protests here to release the accused from police stations.”
