Protest in BTM over Ramalinga Reddy's poster

BJP candidate alleges govt officials were indulging in poll rigging.

Bengaluru: BTM Layout, which registered a voter turnout of 48% till 6 pm, witnessed a protest from the voters, who objected to a banner of the incumbent Congress MLA and home minister Ramalinga Reddy pinned to a tree near a polling booth at Tavarekere.

A voter, who wished not to be identified, said, “This is a clear violation of the rules laid down by the Election Commission. How can anybody put up a party’s banner near the polling booth on the election day?”

Mr Lallesh Reddy, the BJP candidate from BTM Layout, alleged that government officials were indulging in poll rigging in the constituency. He said that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagare Palike (BBMP) has given voter identity cards to the people, but collected them back when they came out of the polling booths after voting.

The BBMP South witnessed a turnout of 47.5% with voters standing in long winding queues till 6 in the evening.
